I'm the first to admit that LED lighting has a long way to go to replace our current general lighting options. However; there are several great applications for LED today! 
One of these applications is accent lighting from 1 - 3 feet away. While you may loose a little "pop" from the standard MR16 lamp you will more than make up for it with no UV issues and no maintenance.
